
The Zambia National Service (ZNS) Women’s group has rebranded to Eagles Women’s Club with a new mandate from a non profit organization to a money making cooperative.
Minster of Community Development and Social Services Doreen Mwamba, MP. graced the occasion of to relaunch and unveil the Club’s new mandate.
Impressed with the initiative by the Women, Hon. Mwamba urged the Women to extend the program to other women outside the National Service community.
She said that Government through her Ministry will partner with such initiatives promoting government policy of empowerment and buying local.
“Consider extending similar empowerment programmes to other women who are outside the club as well,” The Minster said.
“I am impressed with the idea by the club to brand and plans to export your products, my Ministry will support such initiatives that promote government’s policy of empowerment and buying local,” She added.
Club Patron and spouse to the ZNS Commander, Mrs Angela Solochi thanked the government for creating an enabling environment for the Club to venture into a fully fledged business venture as a cooperative to add value to women.
Meanwhile, Club consultant Eunice Siakachona of Impact Hub estimated that the club will reach out to over 3,000 women from the 42 ZNS camps in the county.
The event that took place yesterday at ZNS Chamba valley was supported by the ZNS Commander Lt.Gen Maliti Solochi and his deputy Maj Gen. Nathan Mwewa and the ZNS HQ Command.
Mrs Beenzu Chilukutu, spouse to the Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner General together with spouses to other Service Chiefs were also present.
